MD-Style is what you choose to wear, and how you wear it. Apart from being aesthetic it also concerns how you carry yourself, how you interact with your surroundings, and what kind of mark you leave on the world. ACG-What inspired your Style? MD-I am/was inspired by many things. I was a skater when I was younger (not a very good one), so that rebellious attitude still affects and influences me. I went to a catholic prep high school, so there’s the preppy influence. And the internet. Seriously. A little over a year ago I realized I needed to start dressing better. I went to the web. I took the information, and combined it with what I enjoyed visually, and turned it into something that I could call my own. It is hard to learn and grow as an individual if you absorb information without any analysis. Understand where menswear has come from; learn about why men wear certain things. Take into account how you want to represent yourself to the world and start a tumblr. haha. ACG-The do’s and don’t’s of Style/Fashion? MD-Do not wear something that you aren’t comfortable in. Do not wear something that doesn’t fit correctly. ACG-How does your style of dress reflect who you are to people? MD-I would hope so. I try to look collected and intentful with my outfits. That way people assume I know what I’m doing. 99% of the time, I don’t know what I’m doing. I just dress like I do. ACG-What’s one thing you would take out of Fashion World and one thing you would add? MD-Hmm. I don’t know if I’m knowledgeable or arrogant enough to decide what should stay/go. I’ll say this though; I’m not crazy about boot cut jeans. And I really am digging cargo pants. They’re not for everyone though. ACG-Tips for up and coming Fashion/Style bloggers? MD-Post originalcontentdaily. STOP REBLOGGING. STOPREBLOGGING. and absolutely do not reblog a photo only to say something negative about it. Unless your URL is nicetrybro.tumblr.com, do not put something you don’t like on your blog. It makes no sense and only dilutes your voice. Also I cannot stress enough, if you are taking photos, take them with a good camera. Bad pictures only make it harder for others to see what you trying to showcase. Invest in a decent camera and fixed focus lens, and take quality photos. And finally, if you are a style blog, keep your content centered on style. Do not make it an inspiration board; do not make it a naked girl/expensive cars blog. If you want to be a style blogger make at least 75% of your posts about fashion/style. ACG-What’s going to be big this fall season? MD- Hmm, I think I’m late on this but everyone being talking about quilted jackets. But it’s already November so… ACG-What’s your dream job? MD-I have too many to list. Here’s a short list. Songwriter/producer, designer, creative consultant, guitar builder, competitive rower, high school history teacher… ACG-All time favorite item clothing or shoe? MD-My current favorite jacket is green corduroy 3 button coats from rugby. My current favorite shoes are my florsheim veblens in rust. Love them both and want to marry them and have kids. And a dog. ACG-Who’s your style icon and why? MD- One of my biggest influences is actually my best friend matt perrone. He always looks at style differently than I do and influences me more than he knows. His style is more street/urban than mine which is why I am constantly looking to him for new ideas. (Source: acollectedgentleman)
