What is now a piece of art in front an apartment building, remains a relic to the scandulous ambition of the Polish artist Jerz Kenar. Angel’s Barn was supposed to be part bar, part cabaret with space for Kenar’s art to be exhibited. Quirky and a bit profane Kenar had an orante pulpit as the DJ roost, a bathroom stall with peep show holes, and pews for seats. Needless to say this would have been fantastically interesting, but the community frowned upon it and denied his liquor license.
The sculpture you see now, was done using his wife, Dorota as a model and took over three works to complete non stop from one piece of linden wood. Be sure to check out his other work in his gallery.
