that knot in your stomach when you can’t call the one person you need to hear her voice
Waiting on the stoop, staring at my phone, silence. It lay slumbering without a jingle or shake, and there I realized the distinct difference between patience and waiting.
Patience is understanding and holding out for something worth it. Waiting is foolish hopelessness, and usually only one party is aware of the duration and suffering.
She was not worth it, not the minutes or days. As I boarded a plane she calls, “dinner?”
“No sorry, hoping on a jet plane, till next time.”
Don’t wait, ask today ladies and gentlemen.
Even if it is a date, a raise, a potential client, a movie with a friend you have not seen, just ask. Sadly the art of reading minds has not been perfected, and games of waiting never has shown progress.

There is something to be said for the unexpected. Most of the times it’s a slap across the face, but sometimes this fickle mistress of fate turns in your favor. Mine came in the form of a very long day of work, which caused me to miss all of my evening plans.
Instead she texted me, we quoted movies all night long & watched one of my favorite movies for the 4th time.
Can’t wait to see what is around the corner
