This morning I had a craving. No it wasn’t a turkey sandwich, or coffee, or an egg and cheese. I wanted to ride, not run. The problem was my road bike I raced with (at Bucknell) was being shipped from NYC to Buffalo. I got my tools out and headed to the basement. After much fun, I drained the hydraulic fluid, flushed the brakes and filled it up. Kiddies this was the in between phase in 1998 where hydraulic brakes were the best in the market, just before disc brakes debuted. Next I trued the wheels and tuned the gears, note to self let a shop do this Davaish, you haven’t been a paid bike mechanic in 13 years. I proudly raised the saddle and my retired Gary Fisher Mt. Tam mountain bike was back in action, at 6:42 am. That first pedal stroke right before sunrise was worth all the hassle.

That said mountain biking is incredibly slow on roads, and I had the opportunity to snap some great shots like above while roaming Buffalo to the water front.

The halls were empty. Lockers vacant, like it was all a dream. We roamed the halls looking for something, but really found that we were chasing nothing. What we sought was right there between us, new possibilities, new friendship, new memories and new adventures. I am glad we did not give up, I am glad I drove reverse all the way down the street and called. I will always make it happen. Where are you going next?

Lacey welcomed be to Buffalo by showing me around the a very unique museum, the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center.  It felt like breaking into a high school, check out her blog, definitely worth a follow or ask. Tomorrow the Knox Museum. Sadness cured.
