This quote best captures my interpretations of my Mother’s sentiments during an interview with me for my pending novel. It was a question in regards to how she coped with her own emotions while becoming a physician with two kids, while immigrating from India to Canada to USA, alone.
Happy Mother’s day to all Mom’s, but especially to all superhero Mom’s (aka single mom’s with no support system).

Gorgeous end to a gorgeous day with my brother. Activities included golf, photos, falafel & cheesecake.
New gear meant a new visit to Suneil, my older brother. Follow him for great landscape shots, wedding shoots, and amazing destination photography. He actually manages to travel more than I do, yes that is possible.
Bhaiya, you taught me how to shave, how to bike, how to take photos, how to run, how to talk to women, and how to develop a work ethic & a moral compass. You taught me the importance of also having traditions, whether is is a one day ski trip every year or taking a photo of Ganesha as your first shot. You made me realize there is a significance to rituals and honor. I feel privledged to call you my older brother and I am sorry for any anxiety or pain I ever caused in your life. But I am entertaining right…?

Gentlemen, treat your mother like you would treat a lady. Your future significant other will take notice, after all how you treat your mother is how you will treat your true love one day. In my case that means gifts, breakfast in bed, a convertible and fine wines. Oh and hot sauce, lots of it for MaMa Singh.
No more waiting.
This morning while cleaning at home upstate I found my grandfather’s death certificate. It was slightly jolting and when I showed my Nani she had a look of disbelief. She went into her room and closed her door quietly. After 20 mins she came out and hugged me and said “thank you Deshi beta.”
I want that love that is 33 years year old and still hurts.

Gentlemen, treat your ladies right. The way you treat you mother or grandmother is how you will treat you future Mrs. Take pride in her intelligence, wisdom, and beauty. Laugh at all her bad jokes, apologize profusely and meaningfully. Even watch the long movies you hate with her. I will be watching the Indian news with my Nani soon, and brining her more flowers. Hope everyone had a great valentines, I know I made sure my Nani did.
When Mama Singh visits, she insists on staying with us. I was convinced it was because she loves me the most, but one morning I found out the real reason….James.
